Club Issues

Golf Equipment. Beyond the Marketing.

A closer look at golf clubs, shafts, the technology behind them, and the people who know the equipment.

There's no shortage of information about golf clubs and shafts. The problem is figuring out what's actually worth paying attention to.

Every year brings new drivers, new shafts, new technology, and plenty of promises about performance. Some of those improvements are worth getting excited about. Others deserve a closer look.

That's what Club Issues is about.

I want to get into the details of golf equipment. The specifications, the materials, the technology, and what actually changes from one product to the next.

There's a lot of interesting information coming from shaft designers, engineers, club builders, fitters, and people who work with this equipment every day. Much of it never reaches the average golfer.

I want to bring more of that information together.

We'll look at new equipment, follow conversations throughout the golf industry, compare specifications, and share research from people who know what they're talking about.

When something catches our attention, we'll look into it and share the original source so you can read it for yourself.

Not everything a manufacturer claims is wrong, and not every new product is better than what came before it. There are good reasons to question things, but there are also plenty of reasons to appreciate how far golf equipment has come.

I'm not interested in telling anyone what they should buy or pretending there's one perfect club or shaft for everybody.

I just want to understand the equipment, what makes it different, and share what I find along the way.
